This journal is the more serious side of me, away from my normal pursuits of boybands, fanfiction and memes.

Sometimes I want to to sit back and enjoy the more refined things that life has to offer. This is where you'll find me listening to a favorite piece of music, cooking something special, or reading. I might be talking about the trials and tribulations of being a semi-retired church musician, too.

What I Like

Music of almost all kinds. I sing, and while I used to be a soprano, I have reverted back to a more comfortable alto. Lazy? Yes, probably, but older, too. I had teachers try to shove me into being a lyric soprano but I'm well over that. This is a boon to our current choir director though, as I am an excellent sight reader and can switch hit for either part given who happens to be missing that day. I love to sight read, does that make me odd? Never mind.

I enjoy reading. My first love was Victoria Holt, and have in the past several years become a fan of Luanne Rice. Romance for me, all the way. I have delved into the Harry Potter books, but only after seeing all of the currently available films. As an amateur writer myself, I've enjoyed seeing how JK Rowling evolved as a writer from the first book to the last.

Speaking of my writing, you'll not find any of it here. It is 99% fannish in nature and is for my own enjoyment. I have completed NaNoWriMo for two years out of the three I tried, and consider that a great accomplishment, if only for the perseverance it entailed. Fifty thousand words in thirty days. Wow. :)
